Miss Bette Davis delivers another beautiful, powerful performance in George Schaefers A Piano For Mrs. Cimino, an Emmy nominated film which won Miss Davis a Monte Carlo Award . This was one of the last films in her self-acknowledged Silver Age, when The First Lady of the American Screen elevated the art of television through her dramatic contributions to several uniquely outstanding TV productions made between 1976 and 1983. Often frustrating, always poignant, the film is one of Miss Daviss most passionate portrayals of an elderly woman fighting for her dignity and self-respect, a noble and recurrent theme in her last great films. Originally broadcast for February Sweeps in 1982, the film remains long out of print on VHS and still unreleased on DVD. In honor of Miss Daviss Centennial, and in the hopes that all of Bettes Silver Age classics are soon given proper DVD releases, I hope you will cherish this film and especially its lead performance.
